Scientific interests

As a research fellow in International Economics Department of the Economic Research Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences since 2004 my main field of academic interest are international economic relations. The specific areas my of research activity are trade and integration theory, trends in international trade and regional integration arrangements. Besides these, I am strongly interested in regional development, recent developments in economic theory and scientific methodology.

I have over 70 publications in Bulgarian and international scientific journals and in conference proceedings that cover a wide range of topics – from my main interest area of regional integration in Africa, through some theoretical studies of the motivation for participation in economic integration arrangement, to research related to Bulgarian regions’ competitiveness, the economic benefits of open access in scientific publications and empirical assessments of institutional administrative capacity.

Expertise

I have extensive experience and skills acquired as Executive director of PPPI and secretary of International Economics Department in organising, monitoring and managing the activities in an organisation or a team; skills in horizontal and vertical coordination; efficiency and rigorous in completing of tasks and meeting deadlines; preparation and conduction of work meetings, teaching and training activities; skills in organisational management (legal, accounting, administrative issues).

I have aquired knowledge and experience from education and private consultancy sector in programming, management and implementation of EU pre-accession and structural funds; strategic and policy planning, public administration management, policy-making support and technical advice; institutional building measures and practices within Bulgarian and EU structural and regional policies; provision of training, drafting curriculum, guidelines and project documentation analyses, reports; knowledge and experience in the field of Bulgarian and European institutional and legal practice; preparation and organization of meetings, seminars, conferences, forums; organization, participation and delivery of teaching and training activities.

I have extensive skills in public presentation and course delivery acquired as a Lecturer in New Bulgarian University, Sofia University, Veliko Tarnovo University and Varna Free University.  In the last years I have taught Micro- and Macroeconomics, International Economics, International Marketing, Strategic Marketing, Business Negotiations, Market Organization, Public Sector Economics, European Economic Integration, EU Integration Policies, Management of International Investment Projects, etc. and have participated in the providing of several trainings in Project Management and Methodology of Scientific Research.

Personal interests and hobbies

I am an active and avid reader both professionally and for pleasure. I was one of the first moderators of the “Poetry” forum in abv.bg, and have published two poetry books – “Unreal reality” (2002) and “A world for two” (2009). I was awarded the Award for the creation of an original character of a modern Bulgarian literary work “Irrelevant” (2007), the 3rd award for essay on the literature competition “Past, present and future of my neighborhood” (2004) and the Award for essay on the literature competition “Vitosha tulip” (2003). Besides reading and writing, my hobbies are sailing, biking and ice-skating.
